They already lived it, it cost them something, and they moved on. Every free channel asks them to relive it for nothing. So they don't — and the internet fills the gap with people who were never there.
Advice is abundant and nearly worthless. Lived experience is scarce, unindexed, and hard to find. Thands is the invitation and the proof that make the second one show up.
Ask a forum whether to leave a stable job at 39 and you get a hundred opinions from people who never did it. Ask a model and you get a competent average of those hundred opinions. Ask someone who actually walked out — with the employment record to prove the date — and you get the two details nobody publishes: what the first eight weeks felt like, and the thing they wish they had done differently.
Two barriers kept that exchange from happening: the person with the answer had no reason to sit down and write it, and the person asking had no way to tell a real account from a confident stranger. A direct, specific question fixes the first. A document check fixes the second. That is the whole company.
Operating principles
- Verify claims, never people. We badge a sentence a document can confirm, and we mark everything else as stated.
- Experience, not advice. We will not stand between anyone and a licensed professional, and we say so on every surface.
- Delete the evidence. Documents are reviewed, recorded as an outcome, and destroyed. We keep the fact of the check, not the file.
- Free while we learn. The pilot takes no payments. We will set prices from what pilot users tell us, and announce them before charging anyone.
- Answered, or passed on. If nobody answers within 72 hours, we offer the question to another verified person without being asked.
- Written, on Thands, only. No calls, no meetings, no contact details. They are removed automatically before anything is saved.
- Depth over breadth. Three categories at launch. A thin marketplace in fifty categories helps nobody.
Where we are
Thands is in a free pilot and says so plainly. The product runs end to end — human document review, profiles, written question, in-product answer delivery, the 72-hour window, ratings and the 30-day check-in — and we are hand-recruiting the people who answer across career moves, starting and closing businesses, and moving abroad. Payouts begin when paid questions open.
Example profiles on the site are labelled as examples. We would rather show an honest empty shelf than a fake crowd.
